- Fluctuating Vision. After LASIK, the eye can continue to heal for up to 3 months after the date of surgery. A small number of patients may notice vision fluctuations during this healing process. NewLASIK technologies that we offer have greatly decreased the amount of time it takes for the eyes to heal. This, in turn, has decreased the vision fluctuations noticed during that time frame.
- Dry eyes. LASIK involved removing and reshaping tissue from the cornea, the clear front part of your eye. This tissue is also partly responsible for keeping the eye as moist as possible. After LASIK, we instruct our patients to use preservative-free artificial tears as often as possible. This not only makes your eyes feel better, it also promotes an ideal healing environment after surgery. Most patients only notice dryness for the first few weeks after surgery, if any.
- Night vision glare. LASIK involves reshaping only a small portion of your cornea. At night, the pupil of your eye gets bigger to allow more light in the eye. In many cases, the pupil extends past this LASIK treatment zone. This can cause the perception of glare or halos around traffic lights. New LASIK technologies, such as our CustomVue LASIK procedure, have greatly decreased this perception among our patients.
